AXL EV Building Design Concept

the design concept for AXL’s approximately 5,000 sq. ft. facility in Newmarket, with the goal of transforming an older existing building into a functional and visually distinctive automotive workspace. The project required planning a complete office layout with approximately 12 rooms, while carefully separating office, operational, showroom, and vehicle testing areas.

The design strategy focused on creating a strong front-facing identity for the brand, including an expanded and more inviting entrance area that could act as a signature visual element for the company. The front exterior was planned to accommodate several vehicles, creating a showroom-style presence and improving the building’s visibility and brand impact.

At the rear of the building, the layout included a garage access area designed for bringing vehicles inside for development, assembly, and testing purposes. The overall approach was to balance a professional office environment with the practical needs of an EV automotive workspace, turning an outdated building into a modern, attractive, and brand-aligned facility for AXL.
